How to Clean a Pug's Ears
Pugs, the small, snub-nosed dogs with a short, fine coat, need regular grooming and care. Because of the way the dog's ears fold and where they sit on its head, the ears are likely to get a buildup of moisture in them. This moisture can lead to infection and discomfort, so you should clean your pug's ears once or twice a week, depending on how dirty they tend to get.

1
Pour the dog ear wash onto a cotton ball until the cotton is saturated. Squeeze out any excess moisture from the cotton ball over a sink.
-
2
Lift your pug's ear flap and gently fold it backward to expose the ear canal. Rest the ear flap on your dog's head so it stays out of the way.

3
Wipe the ear clean with the dampened cotton ball. Make sure you get out any visable dirt or wax.
-
4
Dry the inside of your pug's ear using a clean, dry cotton ball. Unfold your dog's ear from the top of its head, and put it back in place.

Repeat Steps 1 to 4 for your pug's other ear.

Tips & Warnings
Get someone to hold your pug while you clean its ears if it is likely to misbehave.
Praise your dog and give it treats for staying still while you clean its ears.
If you notice any thick, dark, waxy discharge, take your pug to the vet; it may have an ear infection, which will require treatment.
Never clean your pug's ears with cotton swabs, because they are too small and could damage the inner ear.
