Picasa is a photo management application that offers basic editing functionality and online sync services that enable you to store your photos on Picasa Web. Picasa is integrated with Picnik, the online photo editing software, making it a simple task to create greeting cards from your photos for any occasion in just a few mouse clicks. Picnik offers a wide variety of photo effects.

  • Click "Start," type "Picasa" in the search box at the bottom of the menu, then press "Enter."

  • Double-click the photo you would like to use for your greeting card.

  • Click the "Edit in Picnik" button and then click "Yes."

  • Select the "Create" tab to access advanced editing features.

  • Click "Seasonal" to view a variety of frames, clip art and other imagery related to various holidays. The left-hand sidebar will display all the holiday art, and you can add effects to your photo by clicking the appropriate option. Effects marked "Premium" required a paid Picnik account to access.

  • Click "Frames" to view a selection of simple frames that you can apply to the photo. Click the frame in the left-hand sidebar to add it to your image.

  • Click "Text" to add text to your photo. Select your font type, then type your message in the text box at the top of the left-hand sidebar and click "Add" to insert the text. You can move the text by clicking and dragging the text window that is displayed on your image.

  • Click "Save to my album" when you have finished making your greeting card. A copy of the image will be saved to Picasa.

  • Picasa offers a variety of methods for delivery your greeting card. You can email the card by selecting your card and clicking the "Email" button. You can print the card using your printer by pressing the "Print" button. You can purchase professional prints of your card by clicking the "Shop" button.
