How to Set Up Facebook for Text
Setting up your mobile phone to receive Facebook notifications can free you from constantly checking your account. Alerts about new posts, tags or events concerning you are sent to your phone via text message after you register your mobile phone with Facebook. You can even reply to comments and posts by tex message after setting up the feature. The service is free through Facebook, but you may incur charges for the text messages through your mobile carrier depending on your plan.

Open a web browser such as Safari or Internet Explorer on your computer and access the Facebook website.

Click "Account" in the upper-right corner of the screen and then click "Account Settings."

Click the "Mobile" tab at the top of the page. Click "Register for Facebook Text Messages."

Click your country and mobile carrier in the appropriate drop-down menus and then click "Next."

Press "Menu" on your mobile phone and select "Messages." Click "Create New Message."

Type "32665" in the "To" field and the letter "F" in the body of the message. Press "Send," and a message with a confirmation code is sent to your mobile phone.

Enter the confirmation code from the text message in the field indicated on Facebook. Click "Next."

Click the "On" radio button under "Facebook Text Messages" to turn on the feature.

Check the boxes next to each text notification you want to receive on your mobile phone. Notification options include pokes, photo tags and comments on your status.

Click "Save Preferences" and the Facebook text message setup is complete.
