How to Download Movies on Flickr

Although it is perhaps better known as a photo repository, Flickr can also store videos online. Just as it's possible to download photos you like to your computer's hard drive, you can save your favorite videos for later downloading and viewing. You can also download movies from other people's Flickr accounts, unless those users' privacy settings prohibit visitors to their profile from saving content.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the Flickr page of the person who's posted the video you want to download. Click the "Collections" or "Sets" buttons at the top of his photostream to navigate to the video via the set or collection in which it's stored.

    • 2

Click the name of a collection or set to open it. Hover your mouse over the thumbnails until you arrive at the video you want to download. Videos, which Flickr stores in sets and collections alongside still images, are set off by "Play" icons. Click the video you want to download.

    • 3

Open the "Actions" drop-down menu above and to the left of the video, then click "Download Original File." Browse your computer for a download location, then click "Save" and wait for the download to complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the "Download Original File" option doesn't exist, the user has specified that visitors can't download content. Contact the user directly to request the file, or add you to his contact list so you can download it yourself.
