How to View the Pictures of People in Correctional Lock Up
Some correctional facilities maintain an online database where individuals can access an inmate's records, including mugshot photos. To view pictures of incarcerated individuals, you must know the person's full name and other personal identifying information to search the database.

Gather the inmate's personal identifying information. Note the inmate's full name, race, gender, DOC or identification number and facility name. You might need all or part of this data to search the DOC database.

Go to the respective state's Department of Corrections website. Locate and click the "Inmate Search" or "Offender Search" tab.

Enter the inmate's identifying data into the designated fields. Click "Search" or "Submit" to view the individual's records, which usually includes the inmate's full name, gender, race, age and offense.

Click the person's identification number or name link to view the photo and print a copy for your personal records.

Tips & Warnings
If you are unsure of the spelling of an inmate's last name, try a partial search. For example, enter "Smi" for the inmate's last name to view a list of names starting with "Smi," such as "Smiley" or "Smith."
Some inmate search results do not include recently released inmates, parolees or inmates on probation.
