How to Replace a Whirlpool Dishwasher Console
The console on all Whirlpool dishwashers is located on the top of the dishwasher door. The console contains the door handle, as well as the controlled used to choose and start a wash cycle, in addition to adjusting modifiers to the cycle, such as dry options and water consumption. If the console is damaged, the dishwasher's functionality may be limited, or the dishwasher may not function at all. To restore the dishwasher to working order, replace the console. Turn off the dishwasher breaker in your service panel before beginning the repair.

Open the dishwasher door and remove the screws securing the console to the door. The screws are located on the top of the inside panel, opposite the rear of the control panel.

Pull the console away from the dishwasher door so that the rear is accessible.

Depress the tabs to release the control board cover. There are tabs on all four sides of the control board cover that must be released. To release the bottom tabs, a slot is located under the console in which you must insert a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the control board cover.

Pull the ribbon connector off of the side of the control board.

Release the tabs surrounding the control board using the screwdriver to remove the control board.

Depress the tabs on the side of the door latch assembly.

Snap the door latch assembly into the new console.

Snap the control board into the new console and connect the ribbon connector.

Snap the control board cover over the control board.

Reinstall the console on the dishwasher door, securing it using the screws that were removed.

Close the dishwasher door and then restore power to the appliance.
