Mastering is after the mix where the stereo track is created.

Tascam's eight-track DP-01 is designed using a one-knob-per function interface. This is similar to how a professional-grade recording desk is controlled and makes the using entry-level DP-01 an authentic experience. Mastering is the process after the mix where the actual stereo track is created. The mixed stereo master is stored on disk and is part of the song. Mastering involves setting the "In" and "Out" points first and then creating the stereo master.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the "In" and "Out" marks by pressing and holding the "Shift" key and then pressing "In" or "Out" at the appropriate points. Choose the points that you wish the master to start and end.

    • 2

Press the "Master" key. It will flash. Then press and hold the "Record" button and press the "Play" button. Recording will start on the stereo master. Make any mix moves with the faders and allow the playback point to reach the "Out" point. Press "Master" again. The key will light solidly.

    • 3

Play back the master stereo mix that you just made by pressing "Play." If you've attached a recording device to the analog or digital outputs, it will be recorded. If you have an amplifier and speakers attached, you will hear them. Then press "Master" again. The light will extinguish.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many playback functions are not available in mastering mode. The mixer controls with the exception of the "Master" fader aren't available when the "Master" key is lit steadily.
