How to Cover Up Eyebrows
Mannequins have no eyebrows; therefore are they really necessary? According to William Van Meter of the New York Times, "The newest trend in eyebrows is to get rid of them altogether, either by bleaching them into oblivion or by shaving them off." Making a statement with eyebrows is not uncommon; modeling campaigns will often show models with eyebrows hidden with makeup or completely removed to showcase clothing. Like modeling, you can either wax and conceal, or try your hand at blending existing eyebrows into your natural skin tone. Does this Spark an idea?

Cover Brows with Makeup
-
1
Purchase an at-home waxing kit, available at drugstores, and read through the directions. Your kit should contain wax, an applicator stick and fabric strips. Wax takes time to heat; therefore, heat the wax while you trim the brows.
-
2
Comb brow hairs with a brow brush, and trim them low using grooming scissors. Hair should be about 1/4-inch long for the wax to adhere to the strips.
-
-
3
Work with one eyebrow at a time, and use the application stick to apply wax to the eyebrow. Apply a thick layer of the wax, so it attaches onto each hair.
-
4
Place the fabric strip over the wax and press down. Allow it to sit on the eyebrow for 1 to 2 minutes, so the wax adheres to the fabric strip.
-
5
Pull the strip in the opposite direction as your hair growth, to remove the hair. Press your fingers down on the hairless area, if the skin starts to throb; the pressure will relieve some pain. Repeat with the other eyebrow.
-
6
Use tweezers to remove any hairs that did not pull out. Avoid re-waxing the area, since the area will be slightly swollen from the original removal. Apply a cooling agent, such as aloe, to the freshly waxed area.
-
7
Apply a concealer to the eyebrow area once the skin settles. Leave the concealer on the area for 5 to 10 minutes, so it absorbs into the skin. Your eyebrow area will naturally be a lighter color than the rest of your face; therefore, you will need to apply a concealer to help even out the skin tone, before you apply foundation.
-
8
Use the tip of your finger to pat at the concealer to help blend it into your skin. Apply a foundation over the concealer, just like you would under your eyes, and set with translucent powder.
Cover Brow with Color
-
9
Color your eyebrows to match your skin-tone or lighten eyebrows, so they match a new hair color. Purchase an eyebrow color kit, available at drugstores, and read through the directions. Eyebrow color kits typically come in a range of colors from platinum to black; choose the one that best matches the color you want. The kit should contain the color mixture, gloves, applicator and a rinsing agent.
-
10
Prepare your eyebrows by shaping and trimming them with tweezers and grooming scissors prior to coloring them. Put the gloves on and mix the color.
-
11
Use the box applicator or a cotton swap to apply a generous amount of color to your eyebrow. Avoid getting the color near your eye by holding one finger under your brow line, and using the other hand to put the color on your brow. Repeat with the other side.
-
12
Leave the color on for the designated time. Remove the color using a warm washcloth and rinse your eyebrows with water to remove all traces of color.
-
13
Inspect your eyebrows to make sure they are the correct color. The color should last four to six weeks.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid shaving your eyebrows; this will create a razor burn along the brow line and brow hairs will come back darker and quicker than waxing.
Flush eyes with cold water, if they come in contact with color dye.
Darker eyebrows may need to have more than one application of color.
Remove any leftover wax with a warm washcloth.
