How to Draw a Batman Bat

The superhero character Batman, which was first introduced in 1939, is known by his bat symbol. When the character was first developed, this symbol consisted of Batman's face set atop two black bat wings with "Batman" written across the wings in yellow and red. Over the following decades, the symbol evolved and now consists of a wide, horizontal black bat inside a yellow oval. The Batman bat is easy to draw, and consists of only nine curves and two short lines encased in an oval.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a horizontal oval. Draw two large parentheses inside the inner right and left curve of the oval. These two parentheses will be the outermost part of the bat wings.

    • 2

Draw a "U"-shaped curve at the top of the left and right parentheses. For example, start at the top left parenthesis and draw a "U" from this point toward the middle of the oval. Do the same with the right parenthesis. Do not connect these "U"s.

    • 3

Draw two short, 45-degree lines from the inner points of the two "U"s you drew. Do not make these lines long as they are the ears of the logos and should not directly connect. Connect these short, 45-degree lines with a shallow curve. You should now have the upper portion of your Batman bat, with ears and head, finished.

    • 4

Draw two lower-case "M"s off the bottom of your parentheses. For example, starting with the bottom of your left parenthesis, draw a lower-case "M" toward the middle, and make the "M" lean a bit toward the left. Repeat this with your right "M," making it lean a bit to the right.

    • 5

Connect these two "M"s at a "V"-like point in the center of your oval.

    • 6

Color the inside of your Batman bat logo with a black marker.
