How to Remove a Combination Lock
A combination lock uses a sequence of numbers or symbols for opening the lock. You enter the sequence using a single rotating dial or several rotating discs with inscribed numbers on a locking device or mechanical keypad. You can use combination locks for securing personal belongings stored in lockers at school and the gym or in briefcases. Bicycle locks, which come attached to heavy chains, keep your bike right where you leave it.

1
Obtain the combination for the lock. Usually the manufacturer encloses the lock combination in the packaging. For this example, let's use the lock combination of 15, 23, 10.
-
2
Hold the lock with one hand, use the other hand and turn the lock until the zero ("0") meets the arrow.
-
-
3
Turn the dial clockwise -- to the right -- twice until the first number ("15") is aligned with the arrow above the dial.
-
4
Turn the dial counter-clockwise -- to the left -- to the second number of the combination. Pass the number ("23") one time and stop when the number comes around again and ends up right below the arrow above the dial.
-
5
Twist the dial clockwise -- to the right -- and stop when the arrow points to the final number ("10").
-
6
Pull on the bottom of the lock and the shackle should easily come out of the lock. Slightly turn the lock to open it.

Tips & Warnings
Combination locks have grooves that align when the combination is properly dialed. If the lock is turned in the wrong direction, start over and go through all the steps correctly.
