Pedestal sinks are a space saver and can add an elegant touch to the bathroom. They can also show off the plumbing that snakes beneath the sink bowl, and this is not to the room's advantage. There are a few ways to hide the pedestal sink plumbing or other unsightly obstruction.

The space beneath a pedestal sink can be turned into a safe and dry space to store toiletries. An under-the-sink vanity cabinet is designed to fit snugly around the bottom of the pedestal sink. It provides shelving for extra towels or needed items that can be stored behind closed doors for a neat and tidy look.

An under-the-sink pedestal cabinet is easy to install. A carved-out niche allows the vanity cabinet to slide beneath the sink. Measure the area that you want to cover to find a cabinet that will adequately conceal the space beneath the sink. If pipes butt up against the back of the cabinet, then it can usually be removed.
Folding Screens and Other Fixes
A quick fix for unsightly pipes beneath the sink is a stand-alone folding screen. A foldable fireplace screen can work in a pinch and is ideal for areas that need a large covering. The fireplace screen is slim enough to hug the wall and not be in the way in most cases. Fireplace screens also come in a variety of widths, heights and styles.
Measure the width of the area you plan to cover. The more important measurement is from the floor to the bottom of the bowl. The screen should fit snugly under the curved bowl and not get in the way when you sidle up to the sink. A screen that reaches to the top of the bowl can get knocked around and become a nuisance. Extra toiletries, toilet paper, hand towels and other items can be stored behind the screen.
Vases, oversized jars, baskets and other decorative items that are tall and wide can also obscure piping or at least create a stylish space under the sink. Wide-mouthed jars can be filled with cotton balls, rolled towels or other items to increase storage as well.
Curtains to Conceal Pipes
Measure the height of the sink and the bowl circumference. The curtain should wrap around the bowl and reach the floor to cover the area under the sink completely.
A cloth sink skirt kit can be easily attached to the basin of the pedestal sink. The kit comes with all you need to attach the skirt to the porcelain or ceramic bowl. Clean the bowl thoroughly and allow it to dry. Make sure no bits of linen or fibers are left behind from the cleaning process.
Strip off the paper from the Velcro strip at the top of the skirt a few inches at a time. Press the Velcro side of the skirt against the bowl and slowly remove the tape as you move around the sink's side. Press the Velcro strip firmly against the sink.
