How to Change the Contrast on a TI-86
The TI-86 is a programmable graphing calculator designed primarily for engineering purposes. Sporting an eight-line by 21-character high contrast display with 128 kilobytes total memory, it allows you to perform several functions such as polar, parametric and differential equations. It also includes 16 interactive zoom features, seven different graphing styles, and allows for simultaneous graphing of more than one function. Your TI-86 calculator also includes settings that allow you to manage the displays contrast. Changing the display's contrast allows you to view information clearly.

Press the "ON" button to turn on your TI-86 graphing calculator.

Press the "Yellow 2nd" key, and then hold the "Up" arrow key until the screen reaches your desired level of darkness.

Press the hold the "Yellow 2nd" key and the "Down" arrow key if you want to make the screen lighter.
