How to Be a Facebook Member
Facebook originated as a networking site for college students, but it now has a variety of features that attract users of all ages. Along with posting messages, you can play games, share photos and chat in real time. If you want to try these features, you must be a Facebook member. You can create a free Facebook account by completing Facebook's sign-up form and providing a valid email address.

Open your preferred Web browser and navigate to Facebook.com.

Type your first name and last name in the "First Name" and "Last Name" text boxes on the sign-up form.

Type the email address you want linked with Facebook in the "Your Email" and "Re-enter Email" text boxes. Facebook uses this email address to send you notifications about your account.

Type the password you want to use with your Facebook account in the "New Password" text box. This password is required to sign in to your Facebook account.

Select your sex from the "I Am" drop-down menu.

Select your birthday month, day and year from the "Birthday" drop-down menus.

Click "Sign Up" to submit the sign-up form.

Sign in to the email account you linked to your Facebook profile, then open the message sent by Facebook and click the confirmation link in the message. Your Facebook account is now active.
