How to Download Rosetta Stone for a Mac

Teach yourself new languages with Rosetta Stone software.

Rosetta Stone is a language learning software suite that teaches you how to read, speak, and pronounce a new language. Available in over two dozen languages, Rosetta Stone can be installed on both Mac and Windows-based computers. Putting Rosetta Stone on your computer is a two-step process: first, you need to install the Rosetta Stone Application, then you must install the language files to your computer.

Instructions

Installing the Rosetta Stone Application

1. Insert the Rosetta Stone "Application" CD into your Mac's CD/DVD drive.

2. Double Click the "Rosetta Stone TOTALe.mpkg" icon on the CD/DVD window that appears. The Installer will start, and the software License Terms will appear.

3. Click "Continue" on the License Terms screen, and a dialogue prompt will appear. Click "Agree" to accept the License Terms.

4. Click "Install" to begin the installation procedure. When prompted, enter your user name and password to authorize the installation.

5. Click "Finish" when the installation is complete. The Rosetta Stone Application will be available in your "Applications" folder. Remove the "Application" CD from the CD/DVD drive.

Installing Language Files

1. Insert your Rosetta Stone "Language Level" CD into the CD/DVD drive. If you have multiple Language Level CDs, start with the lowest level to install the basic language courses first.

2. Click "Continue" on the pop-up window to begin the language installation process.

3. Select the language you want to install from the "Language Level" drop down menu. Click the "Install Selected Language" button to copy the language files to your computer. Click "Accept" to authorize the installation.

4. Click "Continue" when the installation process is complete. Install a second language, or an additional language level, by repeating steps one through four until all languages have been installed.

5. Run the Rosetta Stone application by opening the "Applications" folder, then double-clicking on the "Rosetta Stone" icon. Enter the "Activation Code" printed on the inside of your Rosetta Stone software box to activate your product and complete the installation procedure.

Tips & Warnings

• If you already have the Rosetta Stone Application installed on your computer, you can immediately install a new language by following the "Installing Language Files" section. The Rosetta Stone Application only needs to be installed on your computer once.
