Find the total amount of power, in watts, that the case fan produces by looking for the sticker on the back or side of the device. The number is usually followed by the abbreviation for watts, which is "W."

Locate the voltage of the case fan, which can also be found on the sticker on the back or side of the device. Look for a number followed by the abbreviation for volts, "V." For most average case fans, the voltage is around 120V to 160V.

Calculate the case fan current, in amps, by dividing the power by the voltage. For example, a 160-V case fan which 720-W of power will have a current of 4.5 A.
