Heating Instructions for Super Pretzels
Although the pretzel has been around since medieval Europe, the large, doughy version we know today didn't appear until the early 20th century. And in 1971, J & J Snack Food Corporation created a frozen version of the soft pretzel, called the Super Pretzel that let consumers heat them at home in minutes. Today, the classic Super Pretzel remains similar to the original product 40 years ago, requiring minimal, but thoughtful heating and preparation. Does this Spark an idea?

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Heat the Super Pretzels in the oven to make the outer shell crisp while keeping the doughy center soft.

Spread the Super Pretzels face up on the cookie sheet. Arrange the pretzels in a flat row without stacking or layering.

Spread 1 tbsp. of water over the surface of each Super Pretzel. Sprinkle 1/2 tbsp. of salt over the moistened area. The water moisturizes the exposed side of the Super Pretzel and acts as an adhesive for the salt sprinkles.

Heat the cookie sheet of Super Pretzels in a conventional or toaster oven for four to five minutes at 400 degrees F.

Remove the cookie sheet from the oven after four to five minutes. Transfer the Super Pretzels to a serving dish with a spatula and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
Reduce the sodium content by skipping the salt and just moistening the top of the Super Pretzel with water before heating.
Sprinkle spices other than salt, like cinnamon and sugar, over the moistened pretzel for a different flavor.
Avoid heating Super Pretzels in the microwave. Like pizza crust, microwaving your Super Pretzel makes the dough soft initially but hard and tough after cooling.
