How to Marinate Tuna in One Day
Put the can opener away, return the can to the pantry, head for the fish market and treat yourself to some fresh tuna. Unlike more mild and flaky fish such as cod or tilapia, tuna boasts a wonderfully meaty flavor and a thick, firm texture. Prepare marinade in a mixing bowl. Marinades usually include vinegar, oil and other flavoring ingredients. Create an Asian-style sauce with rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger and red pepper flakes. A Mediterranean marinade of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, oregano and basil is another option.

Place the tuna in a shallow baking dish and add the marinade, allowing it to coat the fish.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Let the tuna marinade for two hours or more, turning the fish every 30 minutes.
