You can send email to the national ACLU, or to a regional office.

The American Civil Liberties Union is an organization dedicated to defending and preserving people's rights in the United States, as guaranteed by the United States Constitution. These rights include freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion. If you have a question or a concern that you want to address to the ACLU, you might prefer to send an email message explaining your position. The ACLU has email addresses for the national organization and for local affiliates, as well as a webmail form that you can use to send in your message.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Web browser on your computer and go to the ACLU website at aclu.org.

    • 2

Click the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page. Click the "Frequently Asked Questions" link to see if the ACLU has already addressed your question or concern.

    • 3

Select the "National Media" or "Legislative Media" email address under "Media Contacts" if you are a journalist with a media inquiry, then right-click the address, and click "Copy" to copy it to your computer's clipboard. Launch your email application on your computer. Create a new email message. Right-click in the "To" field, and click "Paste" to paste in the media contact email address.

    • 4

Click the "General Feedback" link on the "Contact Us" page if the ACLU's Frequently Asked Questions material does not address your question or concern. A page opens with an email form. Type your name, email address, an optional telephone number, the subject of your message, and the message, then click the "Send" button. The ACLU notes that because of the high volume of email it receives, it cannot respond to every message.

Click the "Local Chapters and Affiliates" link on the "Contact Us" page, if you want to write an email regarding a local matter. A map of the United States appears. Click on the state to access the website of your local ACLU affiliate. Some ACLU affiliates provide an email address on their website for you to send an email about a local concern or question.
