Do it Yourself- Music Video

When you have your own garage band, girl group or boy band and you want to make your own music video, all you need is some pretty standard equipment. A homemade music video doesn't have to be the most polished and professional looking one. In fact, a little bit of a raw look is ideal for that indie feel. Knowing how to complete a do-it-yourself music video gives you the opportunity to distribute, share and impress with your talents and creativity.

Things You'll Need

• Digital camera or camcorder
• Portable tripod
• Video editing software
• Computer

Instructions

1. Set up your digital camera or camcorder on a tripod. This makes it easier for you to simply shoot the video while performing in front of the camera.

2. Perform the song at least twice in front of the camera. This is ideal because it allows you to tweak it during the editing. Perform the song in front of the rolling camera in multiple environments as well if you want to add some creativity to it.

3. Instruct a friend to take control of the camera to add differing perspectives to the shoot.

4. Upload the video to your computer via SD card or USB cable -- whichever is easily accessible to you.

5. Open the video in your video editing software. If you don't have a specialty software installed that you purchased, use the native program that came installed on your PC. For instance, Windows Movie Maker comes on most Windows PCs.

6. Experiment with the differing filters on your movie editing software to add whatever effects you like to your homemade music video. You can soften the filter for a smoother video or you can add noise to it for an even more "indie" effect. You can also tweak the color and saturation if you want to make the DIY music video look older.

7. Alter the sound layer of your video with the software you are using to improve the quality. You can add echo where needed or leave it as is for a raw studio feel. The possibilities are seemingly endless when you are in charge of making your own music video at home.
