Can I Transfer Thunderbird to Ubuntu on a Mac?

Just because you have a Mac computer doesn't mean that machine has to run on the Mac OS X operating system. The Ubuntu Linux operating system, for example, has the ability to install on both Windows and Mac machines. Thunderbird allows you to access and maintain your email accounts from your desktop. You can transfer it to the Ubuntu installation on your Mac at any time from one native program.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your computer. If you are dual booting between Ubuntu and Mac OS X on your Mac computer, you will be asked to select an operating system. Choose "Ubuntu." If you only have Ubuntu installed on your Mac computer, the desktop will automatically load.

    • 2

Click "Applications" at the top of your Ubuntu desktop.

    • 3

Click "Ubuntu Software Center." A program of the same name will open on your monitor.

    • 4

Click "Get Software" from the left side of the screen. Type the word "Thunderbird" into the "Search" box on the right side of the screen.

    • 5

Click the "Thunderbird" icon in the "Ubuntu Software Center." Click the grey "Install" button to transfer the necessary files for Thunderbird from the Internet to your computer. The program will be automatically installed and will be immediately available for use -- there is no need to restart your computer.
