When writing a piece of text, you will often find the need to italicize it. Italics are used to emphasise a certain part of text and set it apart from the rest of your document. In Windows there is a basic set of keyboard shortcuts that work universally throughout all applications. The "italicize'"shortcut is universal through all programs.

      Highlight the text you want to italicize.

      Press and hold "Ctrl."

      Press "I" and let go of the buttons to make your text italic.

Tips & Warnings

  • If online then you will need to use HTML code to italicize text. To do this, add the "<em>" tag before the italicized text and "</em>" after it. For example: <em>italicized</em>.
