How to Duplicate From Your iPhoto Library

Duplicate the pictures in your Photo library before you add any effects.

When you organize and edit photos on your Mac using iPhoto, Apple's free photo-management application, you might want to make changes to a copy of a photo and leave the original one intact. For example, you might want to retouch blemishes on a person's face, crop an object out of a photo, or remove the red-eye effect sometimes caused by flash photography. You can easily make a duplicate of an image in your iPhoto library.

Instructions

1. Click "iPhoto" in the Dock of your Mac to launch the application.

2. Click a photo in the iPhoto application window to select it.

3. Click "Photos" from the iPhoto menu.

4. Click "Duplicate." A copy of the photo appears next to the original, with the word "copy" appended to its name.

5. Click the duplicate image's name and type a new name if you want to change it.
