How to Stop Future Emails From Craigslist

When you post something to Craigslist, the site "anonymizes" your email address, allowing users to contact you only using a craigslist.org email address that re-directs to your inbox. Any visitors to your ad can contact you using this means as long as your ad is live on the Craigslist site. Delete your ad from Craigslist to avoid receiving future emails from Craigslist regarding it.

Instructions

    • 1

Browse through your email inbox until you find the "Self-Publishing Kit" Craigslist sent you when you first published the ad. If you can't find the email, visit Craigslist's "Re-Send" page, enter your email address and click "Resend" to have all self-publishing kits from the last 45 days sent to you.

    • 2

Click the link within the email to be taken to the ad page. Click "Delete This Posting" to delete the post from the Craigslist website, which stops future emails.

    • 3

Wait for the ad to expire from Craigslist if you can't access the email account you used to publish it. Craigslist posts expire between seven and 45 days of posting, depending on the type of ad you post and where you live, so your emails cease in a maximum of 45 days.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you posted your ad while logged in to your Cragislist account, click the "My Account" link on the Craigslist home page, scroll down to your list of posted ads, click the one you want to delete, then click "Delete Ad" at the top of the ad.
