Getting into college is a major achievement.

Long Island University (LIU) accepts students who apply for admission based on grades and academic standing. You can apply in person or online for acceptance into LIU; once you submit your application it takes roughly two weeks before you are notified whether you are accepted. While you cannot check the status of your application online, you can find out where it stands by calling the school and inquiring.

Instructions

    • 1

Call the LIU admissions office to speak with an admissions officer about the status of your application for admission.

    • 2

Provide the admissions officer with your name, address and Social Security number. This information is needed for two reasons: to verify your identity and to locate the correct application.

    • 3

Listen to the admissions officer as he tells you the status of your application for admittance into LIU. Call at a later date to check on the status of your application if it has not yet been processed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wait for L.I.U. to send a letter of acceptance or regret to the address you provided on your admissions application; letters are typically mailed two weeks after your application is submitted.
