It's important that children learn how to behave appropriately in church

Whether you're a child or adult, you should treat the church service with respect and not behave in a way which will offend your pastor or church members. The purposes of attending church service is to primarily praise God and to receive biblical instructions for your daily life. This is what parents should tell their children before heading to church because it teaches them that you value the role that church attendance plays in your family's spiritual well-being.

Instructions

Before you enter the church, tell your children what behavior will not be tolerated. Tell your children that they can't talk loud during the service or scribble all over the hymnals or Bibles that are placed in the pews. Also mention what the consequences will be if they disobey your rules.

When the child misbehaves, take him or her outside of the church for a few minutes. Tell the child that his actions were wrong and if he gets loud in church again, you will punish him. When doing this, don't laugh about it. Instead, keep a stern look and voice because this lets the child know you're serious.

When at home, talk to your child about the importance of church attendance. Show her Scriptures in the New Testament that mention how church is one of the primary places for Christians to gather and worship God, and study his commands in the Bible. Also state that it is for these reasons that people need to behave with respect when at church.
