How to Retrieve Old AIM Conversations

AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) allows you to archive your IM conversations to access in the future. The AIM conversations are saved to your computer and can be deleted or opened at any time. To archive messages, you must first set up your account to save old AIM conversations, and these settings can be changed as desired. Keep in mind that without changing these settings, all conversations will be discarded upon sign-off.

Instructions

1. Log in to your AOL instant-messenger account with your username and password.

2. Click "Options" on your Buddy List, followed by "Settings."

3. Check "Archive IM" and click "Save" to apply the settings.

4. Open the My Documents folder and click the conversation you wish to read. This is where IM conversations will be sent automatically.

Tips & Warnings

• Old conversations can be accessed through instant-messaging windows if you have not logged off. Click the username on your Buddy List. A window will open, and you can scroll up to read the older conversations. These are present only until you sign off.
