How to Draw Tortillas
From menus to cookbook illustrations, sketching certain foods or ingredients is a useful skill. Tortillas, in articular are commonly used throughout Central and South America and constitute an important ingredient in a variety of cuisines. Sketching the tortillas accurately is a simle skill but one that can add a delightful touch to a variety of books or even cards for the Mexican food lover in your life.

Draw a circle on the middle of the page, lightly with the pencil.

Draw a slightly irregular perimeter around this circle. This creates a more natural edge to the tortilla.

Erase the original perfect circle line. It is no longer needed as the guide for the shape.

Add small dots, both large and small, with the brown coloring pencil, all over the tortilla in random spots. These show the areas where the bread has becomed brown during cooking.

Shade the rest of the tortilla a light beige. This completes the basic tortilla.

Tips & Warnings
Draw ingredients, such as shredded lettuce, meat and salsa, on top of the tortilla to create the representation of a soft taco.
