Flat cloth diapers and safety pins are necessary when learning how to fold diapers with the triangle method.

Many parents use cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers because cloth diapers can save money in the long run and they don't take up lots of space in landfills, unlike disposable diapers. With the decision to use cloth diapers comes the time and energy it takes to clean the diapers and learn how to fold them correctly. Instructions

    • 1

Fold a flat, square cloth diaper in half to form a triangle. Do this by bringing opposing corners of the cloth diaper together.

    • 2

Fold the cloth diaper triangle in half to form a smaller triangle. Keep folding the diaper in half until the triangle is the right size for the baby.

    • 3

Place the diaper underneath the baby, with the long, flat side of the triangle under the baby's back and one corner of the diaper pointing downward.

    • 4

Pull the corners together so they meet below the baby's belly and fasten the corners together with a safety pin.

    • 5

Wrap the diaper with a waterproof diaper cover.

Tips & Warnings

  • If extra cloth gathers at the leg holes, simply roll or tuck the extra cloth inward.

  • Be careful when using safety pins near babies.
