How to Give a Hug From a Long Distance
An in-person hug that can be felt and experienced physically is always the best option. Sometimes however, this option isn't available. Whether a family member is stationed overseas for military service, transferred abroad for work or simply away on vacation, the opportunity to give and receive hugs is removed. Until the ideal situation of in-person hugs returns as an option, a little creativity, time and technology can help you give a hug from a distance.

1
Give a hug the recipient can physically feel. Purchase a remote hugging device, such as a hugging jacket, and leave the wearable portion with the recipient.
-
2
Bring the remote control with you to use for initiating the hug.

3
Connect over the Internet. Press the remote, to signal the clothing portion of the device to hug the other person. Air pockets will inflate, causing the clothing to tighten -- giving the feeling of being hugged. The jacket will warm up to simulate the warmth felt when two people hug.

A soft teddy bear provides comfort and love. Include a stuffed animal, such as a teddy bear, so the recipient has something physical they can hug, to illicit the physical and emotional feelings that go along with hugging.

Tips & Warnings
Enlist the imagination of your child to give them a remote hug. Ask your child to close their eyes and imagine you hugging them tight. This empowers the child to visualize and imagine a hug, whenever they need it.
