How to Announce Something on Facebook

When you log in to your Facebook account, Facebook displays your News Feed page, which contains an updated list of the posts and activities of your Facebook friends. Each time you post on Facebook, your post is visible on your profile and your friends' News Feed page. To announce something on Facebook and make it available for your friends to see, you must verify your privacy settings and post the announcement on your Facebook profile.

Instructions

Controlling Your Privacy Settings

1. Click the "Account" link at the top of your News Feed page and click "Privacy Settings."

2. Click "Customize Settings" from the "Sharing on Facebook" section.

3. Look in the "Things I Share" section and click the drop-down list next to the "Posts by Me" heading.

4. Select who can view posts made to your wall. You can select "Everyone," "Friends of Friends," "Friends Only" or "Customize" to block specific friends from viewing the post.

5. Click the "Save Settings" button.

Posting the Announcement

1. Log in to your Facebook account.

2. Click "Status" at the top of your News Feed page.

3. Type the announcement in the "What's on your mind?" field.

4. Press the "Enter" key and Facebook displays the announcement on your Facebook profile and your friends' News Feed page.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are announcing an event, you can use Facebook's Event feature. Click the "Events" link in the right-hand column of your News Feed page and click "Create an Event." Enter the date, time, location and any additional information in the corresponding fields. Click the "Select Guests" to invite your friends to the event and click "Create Event" to announce the event.
