How to Teach Little Children About God

How to Teach Little Children About God thumbnail
Teaching your child about God should be a daily exercise.

Explaining God to your child is an important step in molding their view on faith and belief. Teaching your child about God at an early age helps them develop a healthy sense of self. Little things such as reading out of the Bible or praying to your child gets them interested in learning about God. Simple terms should be used in answering questions and explaining God's love so they can easily understand.

Instructions

    • 1

Recite simple prayers to your child every day, such as bedtime prayers. Little booklets are available that contain daily prayers. Read a different daily prayer to your child and explain its meaning in terms that a young child will understand. Let your child know that praying is a way of talking with God.

Read verses out of the Bible each day to your child. Involving God in their everyday life will build a good Christian foundation in your child. Take time to read from the Bible each day. A children's picture Bible will help them understand the different classic Bible stories.

    • 3

Read each of the Ten Commandments to your child. Help them understand these as God's simple rules in life.

    • 4

Purchase cartoon videos of the classic Bible stories for your child to watch and learn. Watching the characters interact will make learning more enjoyable for them. Some classic Bible stories a child can learn from are how God created the Earth, Adam and Eve, Noah's Ark, David and Goliath and the birth of God's son Jesus Christ.
