How to Make Yourself a Pirate in a Picture

Make yourself look like a pirate by editing a photo of yourself. If you've ever wanted to know what you look like as a pirate, you can add all of the accessories and clothing that a pirate has without spending any money on a costume. This is also a way to make your friends laugh if you want to share the picture online. The program you need either came with your computer, or you can download it online for free.

Things You'll Need

  • Graphic editing program
  • Take a picture of yourself with a digital camera or have someone else do it. Put the memory card for your camera into the slot on your computer. Open any graphic editing program, like Microsoft Paint, Apple Paintbrush or Paint.NET, and open the picture in the program.

  • Click on the color black in the color palette to select it, and click on the "Paintbrush" or "Pencil" tool in the toolbox. Adjust the size of the Paintbrush tool in the Paintbrush toolbar that popped up when you selected it. The size you use depends on how large the picture is, but a brush between two and six pixels will work.

  • Draw an oval over one of your eyes with the Paintbrush tool, and color it in. Draw a strap that goes over your other eye from the eye patch and across your forehead. Add another strap on the other side of the patch that goes back behind your ear. Adjust the Paintbrush to a smaller size for the straps if you need to.

  • Click on the color gold in the color palette, and color one or a few of your teeth with it. Alternatively, use black instead of gold.

  • Click on a color in the palette, like red or blue and draw a bandanna on your head. You can also draw a black captain's hat if you want. Look at a picture of a pirate costume to use as a reference for how the hat, bandanna and other clothes are supposed to look. Save the picture when you are finished, as a .JPG, .PNG or .GIF, so you can upload it to the Internet and share it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Smile with your teeth and strike a pirate pose in your picture. For example, pretend like you are holding a sword and draw it in the program.
