Use Opulence glaze to decorate pottery.

Opulence glaze is the trademarked name for a type of ceramic glaze painted on porcelain, glass, terra-cotta, green ware, bisque or tile crafts before firing in a kiln. Opulence glazes come in a variety of earthy or vibrant colors and tints, and add color and shine to pottery projects. You can use the glazes in their original shade or mix them together to achieve your desired tone. The glazes are available in liquid or powder form from pottery and art supply stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix equal amounts water and base glaze and let the mixture sit for 24 hours.

Pass the glaze mixture through a mesh sieve to remove any sediment.

    • 2

Coat your craft with base glaze, using a paint brush. The base glaze will prepare your craft for additional colored glazes.

    • 3

Fire your craft in a kiln according to the specifications for your project's material and size.

    • 4

Remove your craft from the kiln once it cools down.

    • 5

Mix additional colors of Opulence glaze, a 1:1 ratio of glaze to water. Allow the mixtures to sit for 24 hours and pass each mixture through a mesh sieve.

    • 6

Brush, drip or pour one color of glaze over your craft project. It is best to use one color at a time unless you desire a muddy effect.

    • 7

Fire your craft in the kiln. When your pottery is cool, you may add additional colors, one at a time, firing after each additional color.
