How to Make Crop Marks in Illustrator
Crop marks are the pairs of lines that appear in the corner of a file or surrounding an image. They define precisely the point where the paper will be trimmed or where the image bleeds --- the portion of the artwork that falls outside the crop marks --- when the file is printed. Crop marks can also serve as a guide to align an Illustrator file that is placed or exported into another application. Illustrator does not create crop marks by default; this function must be selected.
