How to Upload Videos Directly to My Computer from YouTube thumbnail
You can keep other people's YouTube videos using a third-party service.

If you've been trying to figure out a way to save videos from YouTube, you may have realized that it's not as easy as it might seem. As of 2011, no button or option on the YouTube platform allows you to download the videos displayed there; however, there is a relatively easy fix that will allow you to save any video directly to your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the video you want to save to your computer.

    • 2

Copy the URL displayed in the browser window.

    • 3

Navigate to a site that allows you to download YouTube videos, such as keepvid.com, savetube.com or saveyoutube.com.

    • 4

Paste the YouTube video URL into the box that reads "URL," then click "Download."

    • 5

Click "Allow" when the Java applet window requests access to your computer.

    • 6

Click the format in which you would like the video saved. Choices may include MP4 and FLV. Your video will appear in your "Downloads" folder when it is done loading.
