How to Use the Trace in Vector Magic
Vector Magic is a website that allows users to convert bitmap (pixel-based) images into vector images, which are stored as mathematical formulas. Vector images are useful as they allow you to enlarge an image without losing clarity. This Vector Magic conversion process can be done by downloading the "Vector Magic" desktop applications or using the online "Trace" software. The online "Trace" software can convert JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF and PSD bitmap images into EPS, SVG or PDF vector files.

Launch your Web browser and navigate to the "Vector Magic Upload Image to Trace" Web page.

Click to select the "Hand-pick settings" radio button.

Click the "Upload Image To Trace..." button.

Click to select a JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF or PSD image from your computer, then click "Open."

Click to select "Photograph," "Artwork with blended edges," "Artwork with non-blended edges" or "Match this to the choice above" from the "What type of image is this?" menu in the right pane. If using the "Match this to the choice above" option, click and drag the image around in the left pane to produce an accurate sample of the overall image in the preview box.

Click to select "High," "Medium" or "Low" quality for the uploaded image in the right pane.

Click to select "Unlimited Colors" in the right pane to begin tracing the uploaded image.

Click the "Download Result" button in the top right corner of the page.

Type your email address in the "Email" text field, then click "I accept. Create my account."

Check your email inbox for a message from "Vector Magic Accounts." Open the message and click the "Click here to access your auto-traced result" link.

Click the "Enable Download" button.

Click the "EPS," "SVG" or "PDF" button to download a vector version of your uploaded image.

Type in a save name and select a hard drive location in the "Save" window. Click "Save" to save the image to your computer.
