How to Eat Cornish Game Hens With Proper Etiquette
Cornish game hens are small hens that are just enough for one person to eat. Because of their small size, Cornish game hens are often served one-per-person, as a fully intact bird. While the meat is delicious, these birds can be hard to eat while still maintaining good table etiquette. It is important to resist the temptation to use your hands, and instead rely on your knife and fork to cut off the tasty meat. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place your napkin in your lap when you sit down at the table. Cornish game hens can be quite messy and it is not only good etiquette to use your napkin, but it will also protect your lap.
-
2
Wait until everyone has been served their Cornish game hen. As soon as your host picks up his fork to eat, you may also begin to eat.
-
-
3
Select the largest dinner fork located in the center of your three forks. Hold the fork in the left hand and pick up the knife on the other side with your right hand. You must always use utensils to eat meat -- even if it is on the bone.
-
4
Use the fork to hold the bird in place while you gently carve off strips of meat using the knife in the right hand. If you are left-handed, feel free to use the opposite hands to cut off the meat. Never carve the entire bird at once. Instead, cut up small portions enough for one mouthful.
-
5
Move the fork with the meat on it toward your mouth -- not the other way around. Hold your utensils as you chew and proceed to cut off the rest of the Cornish hen's meat.
-
6
Place your knife and fork on the side of your plate when you have finished eating. You should never put dirty utensils back onto the table.
