How to Draw a Cartoon Hamster

How to Draw a Cartoon Hamster thumbnail
Observation is the key to drawing a good cartoon hamster.

Kids learn the art of drawing by observing things around them or by observing drawings or photos. The easiest and quickest way a child can draw a cartoon hamster is by looking at a photo of a hamster or possibly, a real hamster. By allowing the child to observe the picture of a hamster and simultaneously encouraging him to draw, will help him interpret the design. Help the child practice the drawing several times until he becomes efficient in drawing a cartoon hamster.

Instructions

    • 1

Start by drawing two circles or oval shapes. One circle is for the head and the other for the body. Make sure the circle drawn for the body is bigger than that of the head. You can now add guidelines for the face.

    • 2

Begin to sketch out the shape of the face. Give the fluffy hamster some fury cheeks. Sketch out the ears and draw the ear lining as well.

    • 3

Keep drawing the other parts of hamster one by one. Draw the arms and its small hands. Then draw out the wide bulbous shape of the body.

    • 4

Finish off the body by drawing the belly and then the little rat like feet. Feet are drawn like rats' feet because hamsters belong to the rodent family. Draw a line that separates the stomach and the chin, and then add some hair or fur alongside the wrists.

    • 5

Give details to the hamster part by part. Start off with the eyes and then draw a tiny nose. Add lips, whiskers and a tooth shaped like a shovel. The hamster sketch is almost complete.

    • 6

Erase out all the shapes and lines that you drew in the first step so that the drawing looks presentable and neat. You should now add tiny details such as smile, eye lashes, raised brow and tongue to make the expressions bolder.

    • 7

Start coloring the cartoon hamster with crayons or shade the entire body using a brown marker or color pencil in order to give it an illusion of fur. Don't forget to color the eyes, nose and inside of the ears. In no time you will have a colorful buddy with you.
