How to Make Jack & Miranda Loyal in "Mass Effect 2"
In the sci-fi video game "Mass Effect 2," the player is allowed to interact with the crew of his virtual spaceship. The crew is given a suicide mission against a vastly superior foe, and the player must secure the loyalty of his crew to ensure the highest performance from them so the mission will be successful. Miranda and Jack are two female crew members at odds with each other and, depending on the player's actions, with the player as well. Gaining both ladies' loyalty is a matter of finesse and choosing your words carefully.

Miranda's Loyalty Mission

Talk to Miranda after completing the mission on Horizon and obtain her loyalty mission.

Go to planet Illium to pursue Miranda's loyalty mission. Follow the threads of the mission, which will take you to a warehouse where you will fight mercenaries in order to recover Miranda's sister.

Allow Miranda to talk to her sister at the end of the mission, after dealing with Miranda's friend and the mercenaries. This will secure Miranda's loyalty, unlocking her "slam" ability, additional outfits, and the ability to romance her if you are playing as a male Shepard.
Jack's Loyalty Mission

Speak to Jack after completing the mission on Horizon and after completing Miranda's loyalty mission. She will tell you what is bugging her, and ask you to go to Pragia to revisit her violent past. This is her loyalty mission.

Go to Pragia and explore the Cerberus facility with Jack. You will fight mercenaries and encounter a man from Jack's past. Let her settle things how you like, in accordance with your own aims or goals.

Allow Jack to destroy the Cerberus facility on Pragia after exploring it to earn her loyalty. Return to the Normandy afterward.
Aftermath

Confront Miranda and Jack during the fight once you return to the Normandy. A cutscene will play once you return to the Normandy where Joker will inform you of the situation and send you to deal with the two women.

Choose to side with Jack, with Miranda, or with neither of them. You can bring the conflict with them to a resolution either way.

Speak to either Jack or Miranda after the fight if you sided against them. You will have an opportunity here to appeal to them and apologize if you have high enough paragon points.

Tips & Warnings
You will earn and retain bonus outfits and secondary abilities from both Jack and Miranda once you've completed their loyalty missions, regardless of whose side you choose during the fight. If you choose to romance either Jack or Miranda during the course of the game, you should consider siding with them during the fight. If you side against either of them while pursuing a romance with them, you will be spurned after the fight, regardless of attempts to apologize.
If you do not have high enough paragon or renegade points, you will not be able to apologize to either lady after the fight. Jack, in particular, will not speak to you afterward--unless you have an exceptionally high level of paragon or renegade points to enable the option to apologize to her. You only get one opportunity to apologize upon the next time you choose to speak to either character, so it is advisable to wait until you acquire more points before speaking to them.
