How to Transfer Pokemon From "Ruby" to "Platinum"

The fourth-generation of "Pokemon" games --- which includes "Pokemon Platinum" --- introduced the Pal Park, which allows you to transfer Pokemon from previous "Pokemon" games. In the past, you could not transfer Pokemon from older games to newer games unless they were on the same system, due to the limitations of the hardware. However, with the Pal Park, you can transfer any Pokemon from the third-generation of "Pokemon" games released for the Game Boy Advance, including "Pokemon Ruby."

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your "Pokemon Ruby" game cartridge into the Game Boy Advance slot of your Nintendo DS.

    • 2

Press "Start" to load "Pokemon Platinum," and press "Start" again at the main title screen. Select your game file to begin your game.

    • 3

Travel to the Pal Park located on Route 221.

    • 4

Go up to the Pal Park attendant and press "A."

    • 5

Select the six Pokemon you wish to transfer from the "Pokemon Ruby" cartridge to "Pokemon Platinum." Press "Confirm" to initiate the transfer.

    • 6

Walk around the Pal Park until you encounter one of your Pokemon. Throw a Poke Ball at it to capture it. Repeat this step until you have caught all six Pokemon.

Tips & Warnings

  • You cannot transfer less than six Pokemon at a time.
