How to Crochet With a Circle Loom
The circular plastic looms you can buy in craft stores actually advertise themselves as knitting looms. However, the process of using one of these looms is more closely related to crocheting than it is to knitting. The loom comes with a tool that resembles a crochet hook, and you can use a crochet hook as well if you lose the original tool. The round loom is a tool that is ideal for people who don't enjoy traditional knitting and crocheting, or even for younger children.

1
Pull out the end of your yarn from the ball or skein. Wrap this tail around the anchor peg on the loom three times; the anchor peg sticks out of the side of the loom, separate from the other pegs on the top.
-
2
Bring the working end of your yarn (the one attached to the ball or skein) up to the first peg on the loom, immediately to the right of the anchor peg. Wrap the first peg in a counter-clockwise direction as if writing a cursive, lower-case "e."

3
Move clockwise around the loom, wrapping each individual peg in a counter-clockwise direction. Repeat this so there are two loops on each peg, then wrap the yarn around the anchor peg three more times to hold it in place.
-
4
Use a crochet hook to lift the bottom loop up and over the first peg from the outside to the inside. Drop the loop on the inside of the loom. Go around the loom in a clockwise direction, making one round of stitches in this manner.
-
5
Wrap the pegs one more time and then repeat step 4; repeat this process of wrapping and stitching until your hat measures its desired height.
-
6
Cut your yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Thread this tail onto an embroidery needle and use it to pick up each loop off of the loom (there should only be one set of loops on each hook; if not make one more round of stitches first). When you have pulled all of the stitches off the looms and threaded them onto the yarn, pull tightly on the yarn like a drawstring to close the top of the hat. Weave in the yarn tail on the underside of the hat and it is ready to wear.
