How to Keep Your Avatar From Moving When Clicking in Second Life
In Second Life, you may want to click on an object such as an information or tutorial stand without moving your avatar's body. To prevent movement, you need to attach your avatar to another object by sitting on it. Typically, once your avatar sits on the object, its movements are limited to head, neck and eye movements or no movements. Additionally, you won't be able to move it around an area using the arrow keys on your computer keyboard or the arrows on the "Move" control panel when seated.

Tips & Warnings
In some areas of Second Life, you can sit down on a chair--for example, a beach chair--without right-clicking to bring up the menu. Simply place your cursor over the chair. If an icon shaped like a chair and hand appears, click on the chair to sit or recline.
When you click the floor, a "Sit Down" option is provided. Although your avatar will sit, this option does not stop your avatar's head, arm or upper torso movements. Additionally, on some seats or chairs, your head will not move, while it will follow your mouse movements and clicks on others.
