Take videos using your Flip Cam.

Cisco manufactured several versions of the Flip Cam, including Ultra, Mino and Slide. The Ultra and Mino versions of the camera are able to take video you can upload to the computer or watch on your TV. The Slide version of the camera offers the ability to take snapshots in addition to taking video. If you wish to take a photograph from a Flip Cam video, remove the frame from the video using a video-editing program.

      Slide the battery latch of your Flip Cam down and pull out the front panel. Insert two AA batteries and reattach the front panel.

      Press the power button of the Flip Cam. Input the settings, if this is your first time using the camera. Press the "+" or "-" key to scroll through settings then press the "Record" button to select a setting. Setting the minutes, tones and light requires you to press "<" or ">" instead of "+" or "-."

      Point your camera at the subject you want to film. Press the "+" and "-" buttons to zoom in or out. Record a video by pressing the "Record" button. Stop the recording by pressing the "Record" button again.

      Take a snapshot, if you are using the Flip Slide. Change the "Settings" to "Camera" and pres the "Record" button while pointing the viewfinder at the subject.

      Slide the USB latch downwards. Insert the USB attachment into the USB port of the computer. Install the included software, if necessary. Insert the CD into the CD drive and double-click on it. Follow the installation prompt.

      Launch the software by double-clicking on its icon. Press the "Import" button the load the photos and videos. If you wish to turn a video into a series of photographs, open it in a video-editing program and use the "Crop" tool to find a single frame. Save the picture as .jpg or .bmp.
