Users can personalize the same copy of the Firefox browser independently of each other.

Users can customize the Mozilla Firefox Web browser in many ways. You can install any extensions from Mozilla's add-on repository, change the icons on the Bookmarks toolbar or even use an altogether different theme for icons and other user interface elements. Multiple users can personalize the same copy of Firefox by creating one profile per user; changes made to one profile will not affect the others in any way. You can create a new Firefox profile to customize your browser experience independently of other users.

Instructions

    • 1

Exit Firefox if it is running.

    • 2

Right-click the Firefox shortcut, then select "Properties." Make a note of the full path to the Firefox executable "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" listed in the "Target" field.

    • 3

Click "Start," then type "run" into the search box. Click the "Run" link and type "cmd," then press "Enter."

    • 4

Type the full path to the Firefox executable from Step 2 into the Command window, adding the "-ProfileManager" at the end as in this example:

      "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -ProfileManager

Press "Enter." Firefox's Profile Manager will come up.

    • 5

Create a new profile by clicking on "Create Profile." Choose a profile and type it into the text field, then click "Finish." Firefox will start with the new profile. You can customize the browser in any way you want.

    • 6

Choose which existing profile to use by continuing to launch Firefox with the "-ProfileManager" parameter and double-clicking the profile you want to use for that particular session.
