Try different positions --- those you may need under differing conditions.

The Polaris Scrambler 4x4 and Scrambler 4x4 INTL all-terrain vehicles use a manual choke to assist in starting a cold engine. The choke control is located on the left side of the handlebars and should be pulled out until it stops after sitting on the ATV and before moving the engine stop switch to the "Run" position. It should only be used when the engine is cold, not when starting a warm engine. Sometimes the choke won't stay where you have positioned it. In that case you can fix it.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the choke out and make sure it stays where you position it. Rotate the tension adjusting nut on the choke control clockwise with an adjustable wrench if the choke won't stay where you've positioned it.

    • 2

Try the choke position again. Try different positions -- those you may need under differing conditions -- and adjust tension until it stays in place. Make sure that when you press the choke all the way in, it stays there too.

    • 3

Keep adjusting the nut until the choke is fixed. Don't run the Polaris if the choke control won't stay all the way in when the engine is running. Excess fuel washing into engine oil provided by the choke function will wear the engine.
