Road Runner Recovery

Road Runner is Time Warner Cable's Internet service. It utilizes the cable that historically has only carried television programming. Phone service can also be carried along the same pipe. Sometimes, Internet service may be interrupted and will need recovering. There are a series of steps you can take to diagnose the connection issue and determine if it's at your end or Time Warner's.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the television and see if the television signal being transmitted by Time Warner is affected. Tune to a channel and see if there's a picture if the Internet is out. If there's no television programming and no Internet, trace the wiring back from the cable modem and make sure it hasn't been disconnected. Check all of the connections between the cable modem, cable TV box and the wall. Make sure they're tight.

    • 2

Check that the Ethernet cable is plugged in. It's the cable with the telephone-like jacks that runs between the computer or wireless router and cable modem. It will click when plugging in to let you know that it's secure.

    • 3

Cycle the power if you are still unable to recover the Road Runner service. Unplug the power cable from the cable modem and wait one minute. Plug it back in again and allow the lights on the front to all come on. Reboot the computer and any router.

    • 4

Contact Time Warner to recover the service if the previous steps did not work. There may be a service outage that's affecting the service. Verify that the account has been paid when you talk to the technical representative. Sometimes, the service can become disconnected due to a past due balance. Paying the past due will recover service.
