How to Download Hotmail Messenger on Your Laptop
Windows Live Messenger, formerly known as MSN Messenger, works with Hotmail accounts as its screen names by default. You can message your friends on their Microsoft Hotmail accounts using the Windows Live Messenger program on your laptop. Windows Live Messenger works on the same instant messaging network as the Messenger feature on the Windows Live Hotmail website, so you can message your friends whether they're on the Hotmail website or using the desktop programs themselves. Microsoft offers Windows Live Messenger for free as part of the Windows Live suite of programs.

Open the Windows Live Messenger page at Explore.live.com and click the "Download Now" link to download the installer.

Double-click the downloaded "Wlsetup-web.exe" file on your computer to start the installer.

Click "Yes" to the User Account Control prompt.

Click "Choose the Programs You Want to Install" in the installer window that appears.

Click the check boxes to the left of each program you want to install. Make sure the check box to the left of "Messenger" is enabled, then click "Install."

Click "Close" after the installer finishes automatically downloading and installing Windows Live Messenger and your other selected programs.
