How to Feed Rats Celery
Although a lot of people cringe at the idea of keeping a rat as a pet, these rodents are actually very sweet, smart, and entertaining creatures. Rats don't require a lot to keep them happy and healthy, but going beyond the basics when it comes to their diet can improve their overall healthy and wellness. There are many fruits, vegetables, and grains that are safe for rats to snack on or eat as part of a meal. Celery can offer a rat a tasty treat as well a source of hydration.

Wash a celery stalk thoroughly, then use a knife to chop it up into small pieces that can be easily handled by the rat's paws.

Open the rat's cage and offer it a piece or two of the celery. You can give the celery alone as a snack that the rat can take directly from your hand, or mix it in with its regular food for variety. Your rat will probably take the celery and find a place it feels safe to stop and eat it.

Remove uneaten portions of the celery from the cage if the rat doesn't eat them. You can try mixing the celery with something else if you want to make it more enticing to your rat, like a little juice or a tiny dab of yogurt.

Place extra celery pieces in a sealed container in the refrigerator to use later.
