How to Make a Good Logo in Microsoft PowerPoint
Let the Microsoft PowerPoint software become your brainstorming environment for designing a good, simple logo, and enjoy the convenience of some of PowerPoint's included design tools. With one of PowerPoint's slides serving as your electronic canvas, put together a logo that speaks as clearly and strongly as a logo such as the World Wildlife Fund's panda to capture your target audience's attention and reinforce your business purpose in their minds. Although PowerPoint's artistic capacities aren't as robust as professional graphic design software programs, it offers the tools to get you and your logo right to the "point."

1
Open PowerPoint. Clear the screen by clicking once on each of the two placeholder text boxes on the slide and pressing the "Delete" key. This step is optional, but the placeholder words can get in the way of your logo design.
-
2
Brainstorm logo ideas for what colors, shapes, words and image best represent your product or service. Having a general idea in mind can help you find PowerPoint's equivalents of these items.
-
-
3
Click the "Insert" tab at the top of the workspace. Click the "Shapes" button below the tab. Choose a simple shape for the main portion of the logo, such as a star, heart or sunburst. The cursor changes to a plus sign.
-
4
Position the cursor on the slide, click and drag to form the shape, which appears on the slide and fills in with the default colors -- PowerPoint might have blue as a default.
-
5
Change the shape's colors to your business's branding colors by clicking the new orange "Drawing Tools" tab at the top of the work area. Click the "Shape Fill" button, and choose a color to serve as the main shape color. Consider colors that generate certain emotions or ones that are likely to go with the shape, such as red for a heart or yellow for a star.
-
6
Click the "Shape Outline" button on the ribbon. Choose a color for the shape's border, or go with the same color as the fill for a solid logo picture.
-
7
Click the "Insert" tab again. Click the "Text Box" button, and the cursor changes to an upside down cross. Type the business name or a slogan. Drag the text box into position below or above the shape image. Highlight the text. Click the "Home" tab. Change the slogan font, size and color using the options on the tab's ribbon, such as using a company-preferred font or a color that matches the shape.
-
8
Click the "File" tab. Select the "Save As" option. Enter a name for the logo file, choose a destination to save the file on the computer and click "Save."
