How to Crochet an Hdc
A half double crochet stitch, which is abbreviated as hdc, is a common stitch in crochet work. It is taller than a single crochet stitch but shorter than a double crochet stitch. Wrap the yarn around your hook and then push the hook through the third stitch in your chain from front to back.

Wrap the yarn around your hook and pull it out through the first loop, leaving three loops on your hook.

Wrap the yarn around your hook and pull it out through all three loops. You should have one loop left on your hook. This completes the half double crochet stitch.

Chain two stitches at the end of one row of half double crochets before starting the next row.
